Pipe Freezing Kit

Pipe freeze plugging is a straightforward, cost-effective way to maintain pipes without needing to turn off your systems. The use of liquid carbon dioxide (CO2) allows isolation of the problem in the same line with solid freeze plugs in the fluid in the line. The task can then be carried out without the loss of costly process fluids, system downtime or the need to drain-down and refill. When the work is complete, the plugs can be thawed and the line returns to be fully functioning.

When making pipe repairs, using the pipe freezing kit ensures that the systems don't need to be drained and equipment doesn't need to be shut down. Using the kit allows the creation of ice plugs using liquid carbon dioxide in certain sections of the pipes. Each kit is supplied with three freezing jackets for pipes between ½" and 4" (13 – 114mm) OD.

To use the pipe freezing kit, the pipe flow must be turned off and a freezing jacket attached, upstream from the section that must be repaired. The freezing jacket needs to be filled with CO2, forming an ice plug. When the repair is complete, the ice plug jacket can be removed, automatically allowing the ice plug to defrost.

Note: the Kit hose fittings may not be compatible with other CO2 cylinders. The Kit can be used for pipes ½"-4" (13-114mm) O.D. including three freezing jackets, T connector, two 8' (2.4m) high pressure hoses, unfilled cylinder, pair of insulated gloves, 20 lb (9.1 kg) CO2 safety glasses, a carrying bag and usage instructions.
